How to Give Your Laptop Personality

A notebook computer (also called a laptop) is a handy electronic device to own. Its biggest advantage is you can take it anywhere you go. The beauty of a laptop is its mobility and the variety of places in which you can use it.
Purchasing a new notebook computer can be very exciting, especially with the new technology available. And It's not unusual to form an emotional bond with your laptop over time; after all, you use it for shopping, personal entertainment, communicating with friends and, occasionally, work. Your laptop can start to feel like an extension of yourself and, as such, you may find yourself dissatisfied with its drab, businesslike appearance. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways in which you can modify your laptop to make it more stylish. Follow the directions below to give your laptop a new look that will better reflect your unique personality.
Decorate your laptop. Express your personality by applying vinyl decals to the cover or palm rest; choose a full-panel decal for complete coverage or a handful of small accent pieces for a more subtle look. These decals are easy to apply and may be removed without leaving an unattractive residue behind. Anytime your computer is open, those around you will see the great design, and if you computer is shut, you get to enjoy the beauty of it. There often various solid colors as well as many patterns to choose from. It is the most quick way to change your notebook from appearance.
Replace your desktop background. A well-composed photograph of an urban setting or a stylish illustration can often create a more striking effect than a flat color fill or abstract desktop image. Browse Flickr.com and DeviantArt.com for possible options.
Apply a custom theme to your laptop's user interface. There are numerous shareware programs that will enable you to safely modify the appearance of elements such as menus and desktop windows. Window Blinds and Shape Shifter are two popular UI modification programs for the Windows and Macintosh platforms, respectively; see Resources below for download links.
Clean your desktop. As with people, an unkempt, haphazard appearance can prove unattractive. Limit your desktop icons to those which best define how you use your laptop. If a stranger will be able to get an idea of your personality and interests simply by looking at the items on your desktop, you're on the right track.
Carry your laptop in a stylish bag. Most laptop bags are designed for business professionals and have a functional, austere appearance as a consequence; messenger bags and totes provide a more fashionable alternative. Some companies, such as Timbuk2, offer a line of messenger bags with added features for laptop users.
However, Just like with other electronics, notebook computers need care to keep them running at their peak performance. Because they're mobile, the chances of them being damaged are increased. That's why you need to use extra caution.
